Here, some people say the work comes first. 

We hear the implication loud and clear: that means we come after. 

Women have always been pressured to put other people’s pleasure above our own.

To smile and fake it. To compromise.

To treat our bodies, our minds, our time, as a vehicle for what other people want.

But being a woman is not an affliction or an act of service.

Womanhood is toe-curling, mind-blowing, earth-shattering. It should feel gooooood.

And simply taking up space isn’t enough: our pleasure needs to be a priority. 

Because when we give women what they need to thrive, 

The world and the work flourish. 

You might think the work comes first, 

But good luck finishing anything without us.
